Lame

Lame is my new word i have picked up from my sister Erin. I say it for everything! Today, i went to school for 5 hours in the same room!!! Choir. Yay =)
Successes for 2/01/10:

  1. Got to add chamber choir (better than concert choir....you actually have to try out to be in this one)
  2. Went to FHE--Family home evening with my ward! We learned about dating...haha we played scategories basically, but wrote ideas down for dates based on the letter we rolled. I had so much fun! My team consisted of Bishop and Sister Bertola, Jennifer, me, and sister Carrier. We rocked.
  3. Finished most of my math homework due tomorrow morning at 8 am.
  4. Brainstormed with the parents about ways to raise money with my mad skills...............still brainstorming. More on this to come..
  5. Played a game with the family - erin.
  6. Reunited with DACH!!!!!! It was so great to see her again!

Here comes the sun!

The sun came out today!! I didn't even have to wear a jacket. Ahh nice. Wow. I haven't been on here since.....Tuesday? geeze! Here's what happened during the week:
1) School has really caught up with me! I have a lot of night classes so..whenever i come home i am exhausted, and fall asleep...hence why i don't get on here.
2) Made congratulatory cookies for Lauren getting the job she applied for!!
yummmm :)
3) Went to ASL 4 class...Chelsea is ecstatic to be there with me :)
4) Got a pedicure with Lauren and Mom Davis
Lauren and her PedicureESS!
Her feetsies were so cute!
I think all the ladies in there were getting annoyed because i was taking so many pictures!!! I'm sorry i like documenting moments in time!
5) Cameron and friends had their "black and white dance" so i took a picture when they got home. Left to right: Nick, Thomas, Samwise, Eric, Cameron

Some other activities that took place this week:
Ultimate frisbee with Jared Broch, Jon Pinney, Paige Turner, me, Chris...Leshelle, Jacob Goodwin, Alan, and other cool people, dance at the Elverta building in ANTELOPE...memories of when i was the lovely age of 14 came flooding back to me and....

Anyway, I also went to church with all my wonderful friends. Namely, Lauren and her other half Kyle, Paige, Rick, and the other people in the Rsvl. 8th ward. :) I got the opportunity to play at my "Grami Jo"'s dinner party on Saturday night. That was really cool. I put together my own 30 minute program. I was informed that when Grami Jo sent out the invitations for her dinner party, that there was a surprise! I, was the surprise!! I played music from different genres: Disney songs, songs from musicals, movie soundtracks, Rascal Flatts "God bless the broken road", Bach, the Irish tune "The Butterfly", my grandma's song, hymns, and western jigs! It was so much fun. Oh, i played Linus and Lucy's song from Charlie Brown for Vern Taylor because when i was little, he would come over to our house and visit with us, but always play that song on the piano. He was surprised :) Grami Jo was pleased i think. I hope!!

I received a letter on Saturday morning. Intense. That's the best word i can think of to describe the content inside the letter that was sent to me. There were some things i have never EVER heard before this point. Some very hurtful things were said to me... and I can't believe the utterly atrocious paragraphs written in regards to me and what i should be doing in this person's mind to make THEM feel better. Seriously,I think this is the most disturbing thing i have ever read to myself in my life. I really and truly hope something works out for you....YOU have the bigger problems here and anyone can see that except for you. Even though half of your letter to me seemed to be about me and tearing me down...It was obviously all about you. Good luck to you, and don't ever speak to me again.

ASTA

ASTA--American String Teachers Association is having a national convention where string teachers and students pay BIG BUCKS to come and listen/learn from the top players in the world. Pretty big stuff. The staff had the chance to pick two...count em, two students to play for Donald McInnes:
World famous violist and teacher, DONALD McINNES, is known in virtually every corner of the artistic world for his appearances with major orchestras, recitals, chamber music participation, and numerous masterclasses. His affiliation with major schools throughout the world have included The University of Michigan, the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, and the University of Washington. In 1985, he accepted the appointment as Professor of Viola at the University of Southern California (the position formerly held by his teacher, the famed William Primrose). Presently, he combines a very busy concert schedule with his class of viola students from throughout the world. He has appeared with such orchestras as the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Orchestra Nationale de France, Pittsburgh Symphony, Zurich Chamber Orchestra, CBC Radio Orchestra, Toronto Symphony, Mexico City Philharmonic, Atlanta Symphony, Seattle Symphony, among many others, and his career included close associations on the platform with such artists as Leonard Bernstein, Yehudi Menuhin, Lynn Harrell, Yo-Yo Ma, Paul Tortelier, Brooks Smith, Martin Katz, Janos Starker, Menahem Pressler, and many other leading artists of our time. Mr. McInnes is also a very active recording artist who can be heard on Columbia, RCA, Deutsche Grammaphone, Angel (EMI), etc. He also introduced many new works for viola including commissions for him by such leading comosers as William Schuman, William Bergsma, Robert Suderburg, Vincent Persichetti, and Paul Tufts. He regularly appears at leading summer music festivals in North America and abroad such as Banff, marlboro, Gstaad, Ambler, Interlochen, the International String Workshop, and the Music Academy of the West. His students received the first three prizes at the 1984 Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition on the Isle of Man, and more recently, two of his students won the first prize at the prestigious Friday Morning Musical Club National Competition at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and the CBC National Competition in Vancouver, British Columbia. Today, throughout the entire world, his students can be found in leading symphony orchestras and teaching at many of the finest conservatories and universities. In addition, Mr. McInnes is a resident member of the Camerata Pacifica in Santa Barbara, CA.

It's a pretty big deal if you get chosen. I don't want to brag? But I was one of the TWO that was chosen to play for this MASTER of the arts!!!! I'm playing for him at the convention in Santa Barbara on Feb. 20th. I'm so excited!! Anyway, I thought i would let you know. :D

2) Practiced my viola for the conference!
3) Made cookies with Lauren and Aubrey to celebrate her new job!!
4) Called Erin to wish her a happy birthday

Saturday's Warriors
Clean new room--check

Saturday's are so boring when you have no one to hang out with. Do you agree? I mean...what are you supposed to do on Saturdays? HANG OUT WITH YOUR FRIENDS. hah I have friends, but everyone is busy going on dates and whatnot. I'm happy for them but I want to do something too. something not including cleaning and organizing my room. I wish i could go fly a kite. That sounds nice at the present time. If only it were sunny outside and a warm breeze filling me up while my kite lay in the air enjoying itself. The current status of the weather is, bitterly cold but not raining yet. I'm sure the rain will come on the days i am most outside...Tuesday's and Thursday's. Joy. I have been enjoying my new phone I got yesterday. Its a Sony Ericsson W518a. very cool.

Successes for 1/23:

  1. Woke up at....before noon
  2. Got to witness my sister, Aubrey's basketball game. She is HECKAAA good. ------>
  3. Had the motivation to start bike riding every morning! Note: I did not go bike riding. I had the motivation though. We'll see how this goes...
  4. Almost yelled at a child on Aubrey's basketball team because she was being so annoying! I wish i had because the best part was, her parents were sitting right next to us!!
  5. Practiced my viola/violin for Saturday's Dinner Party.
What did all of you do today? I would love to hear about it!! Leave me a comment :)

Wish List Wednesday

I'm awake in the afternoon
I fell asleep in the living room
and it's one of those moments
when everything is so clear

before the truth goes back into hiding
I want to decide 'cause it's worth deciding
to work on finding something more than this fear

It takes so much out of me to pretend
tell me now, tell me how to make amends

maybe, I need to see the daylight
to leave behind this half-life
don't you see I'm breaking down

lately, something here don't feel right
this is just a half-life
is there really no escape?
no escape from time
of any kind

I keep trying to understand
this thing and that thing, my fellow man
I guess I'll let you know
when i figure it out

but I don't mind a few mysteries
they can stay that way it's fine by me
and you are another mystery i am missing

It takes so much out of me to pretend

maybe, I need to see the daylight
to leave behind this half-life
don't you see I'm breaking down

Lately, something here don't feel right
this is just a half-life
is there really no escape?
no escape from time
of any kind

come on lets fall in love
come on lets fall in love
come on lets fall in love
again

'cause lately something here don't feel right
this is just a half-life,
without you I am breaking down

wake me, let me see the daylight
save me from this half-life
let's you and I escape
escape from time

come on lets fall in love
come on lets fall in love
come on lets fall in love
again

Tuesday Tute!!

Oh hey! Did i mention that school started today? It was such a wonderful day :) the sun was shining, i saw old friends...got all the classes i wanted, no stress. i can't believe how amazing this tuesday was. I could just go on and on!

The funny thing is that everything i just said...was the complete opposite of how it actually was. It was pouring rain again today...ALL DAY mind you..i DID see old friends, met some new people, and  avoided some people. I got none of the classes i needed to add. None. zip. I needed Psychology, so i got there a half hour early. A lottery happened. Didn't get picked. English was the same....and humanities too. I actually fell asleep in that class!! It's been SOO long since i've really fallen asleep in CLASS! haha

What kinda shoes do you like? I like....well, i like a lot of shoes. But do you like a certain type of shoe? It seems like people have a "style" of shoe, and they wear it all the time. Wondering what yours is...=) Does it seem weird to you that if you have a "shoe" thats yours ... to go on and change styles??? Cause i think that's pretty LAME.

I'm sorry for anyone who talked to me today since today was one of those days. A day when i stare off into space about nothing and can't bring myself to do anything but sit down and not move. I did not wanna talk to anybody...didn't want to eat anything. I felt like my arms wouldn't move even if i tried my hardest. My eyes were glazed over with the events that had happened earlier. I wanted to cry and talk to someone, but not talk at the same time. I was so drained. Have any of you had these days or is it just me?

Weather Reports

Weather Reports always seem to screw everything up! I hate it. Even though we are in need of rain, why did we have to have it start pouring buckets yesterday?? I regret not writing in this yesterday...it was a late night if i remember right. Sunday went a little bit like this....

Woke up at 8 45 am, which hasn't happened since, oh, last year i think? I played in my church meeting. Left after the service there to get down to Carmichael to play in my old viola teacher's recital. I have it recorded, but i'm not sure i want everyone to see the one major note i missed....whoops. =) I do feel pretty darn good since i got the music a DAY before the recital and ran through it maybe 3 times with my teacher. We sounded A-mazing. just sayin... (Duet--if you were wondering)

Want to know my distresses in the past....hour? I know, hard to pass up right?
  • First off, school starts tomorrow
  • Then, Erin is moving home which means moving rooms around and an extra messy house
  • Because of moving and switching rooms with Cameron, my brother, my bed is full of crap and i can't sleep on that. obviously. i dont want to clean it either. obviously.
  • Now, school is starting tomorrow. Erin's not home yet which means, mom and i get to go to school extra early tomorrow to get to all of mine AND erin's classes and add them! yay
  • I get to try and convince a teacher to let me in her class. Psychology. woopee
  • I just wrote a novel of a text to someone and i accidentally erased all of it!!
  • My phone broke
  • Ordered a new phone, that i'm not particularly fond of...and will get here in two days. That also means i get to use this stupid old black phone for however many days it takes my other phone to get here. It ALSO means i get to stress over how to use it. (I hate change. Getting used to a new phone for me that wont last? nope. wont do it)
Dang and i was so excited for school to start!! Thankfully all my classes i signed up for fall on Tuesday and Thursdays mostly. My Mondays, and Wednesdays, and Fridays are open for me to work. oh wait, i don't have a job yet. Any suggestions? Anyone hiring now?? I'll take anything....

Successes for today...

  1. Ate with my 2nd family at Outback Steakhouse. My first time :)
  2. Successfully switched scenes. aka moved into my original room. I just liked all the S's!
  3. Went to FHE (family home evening)
  4. Caught up with a friend on facebook :)
  5. Had some delicious chocolate chocolate cake
  6. Made up a band name--Fusion5
  7. Practiced with the band
  8. Got my class schedule worked out
I am so excited to start school again! I am not one for change at all. I was just telling my friend i caught up on facebook with...When i have a new thing to get used to, at that time i will HATE it! But then when i don't have it anymore, i miss it so much. Like Snow College for example. When I was going to school there last year, you can ask my parents how i liked it. I would call them every single day and demand they fly me home that instant. I hated it there. I would have done anything to go home. But now that i'm home here, I truly miss it. The whole atmosphere of Snow is not like any other College or place. It has such a personality there, and i love it. But anyway, I am just starting to get used to Sierra College here in Rocklin, and i cannot wait to sit in the institute building and listen to the ramblings of little baby college students who think they are the coolest thing California has ever seen since the television. I love it now! Anyway, I am tired and have to wake up at 7 tomorrow for all my classes!!!! Wish me luck! Goodnight everyone. Happy Monday.

The time is 2:00 pm

Apparently, MY blog doesn't want to tell the time of each entry i post....and its really bugging me. Does that bother anyone else?! How do you make it tell the time?? Post Options right? and then what? I pushed both the buttons and nothing happened.....

Help me!!!!!!!!

P.s. I love you

I'd like to think that Saturday's Warriors wouldn't be fighting today since my dad and Cameron are gone camping.....nope. Did mom let me sleep in? HECK NO. So, I've already tidied up the kitchen, swept the floors, cleaned up the bathroom again, and soon to vacuum every room in the house.

Goals for 1/15:

  • Fix the vacuum cleaner
  • Vacuum this mess we call our house
  • Wash my face and put on make up
  • Look for a job on craigslist
  • Finish cleaning up my room...for the 3rd time this week
  • Have a productive practice session with my viola teacher at 4:00
  • Have a super time on my date tonight!!
It seems as though I have a special connection to the movie P.s. I love you. Every opportunity that comes up to watch a movie...P.s. I love you winds up in the DVD player!! I have now watched this movie 2 nights in a row, also having watched it at the beginning of the week for my first time. I propose a challenge now for myself...seeing how many nights i can actually watch this movie without driving me to commit murder. I've learned by this stage in the game, not even to put on make up because by the end of the movie, it has all leaked off and been smeared onto my face making me look like Frankenstein's wiff. :) Great visual huh? Tip to all those guys out there: If you ever want to see me cry, put in P.s. I love you, or Pearl Harbor...which is hard to believe you WOULD want to see me look like that, but just in case. Tune in tomorrow to see if i conquered another day with this romantic, depressing movie.

P.s. Guess What!

Family Fridays

Im not sure if you all know this, but i love my family more than anything else I've loved and will ever love. Not just my immediate family, but my extended family too--aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, nieces, and nephews..I don't know how i got SO lucky to be in the family i did, but i am for sure grateful!! So from now on, every Friday, I am going to introduce to you a member of my wonderful family and let you in on the amazingness ;)

Meet Erin:

I have been blessed with the BEST older sister in the world. She is the funniest person you'll ever meet. I'm serious when I say, when Erin walks into a room/situation it is so much better! She is GoReGeOuS--if you haven't noticed already. I love taking pictures of her because she makes ME look good!! so selfish of me =]... She is an accomplished flutist. She's sat 1st chair in the Sacramento Youth Symphony, All-state bands all over California, Wind Symphonies...you name it. She's also played with the Auburn Symphony as a soloist, and won numerous awards for her extraordinary talent. Not to mention, traveled to Brazil to perform with the Sacramento Youth Symphony. I am seriously proud to call this prodigy my sister. Erin is an exceptional photographer too!! What does this girl NOT have! :) I love having her in town to get professional pictures done for myself. Again, the selfishness sliding right in there...:) She will be in the Sacramento Area for the next little while, don't miss an opportunity to get your photoshoot with  her!! Check out her website at www.photo1k.com

I admit, when we were little, I thought Erin was the shizzz...(maybe a little different wording--something like, Erin is totally super awesome!!) But anyway, since I thought that..i would maybe copy her sometimes?

The funny thing is...I STILL copy her! Check these out

not the most attractive picture of me...

pretty much look the same huh?

Erin's graduation--yay! she made it!

Over this last Christmas, which was (to me) the very best Christmas we've had, Erin and i realized how much SShiizzzllee she actually was to me!! My dad made the family a movie which i entitle "Dayton's Christmas Past". I think the whole thing was 2 and 1/2 hours long!! The movie had clips from every single Christmas the Dayton's had. From the very first Christmas, when i couldn't even walk...I would come in and see what Santa brought me...and after i glanced over everything i got, i would run over to Erin's pile and pick up her presents and steal them!! "Erin!! look at this! LUCKY!!!" "yeah amber, go look at your stuff!" The beginning wasn't as bad because I think Erin still liked me. But towards the more recent Christmas's, Erin would hold her stuff down and just talk to me about my stuff. But I couldn't help it! Erin always got the cooler presents! ;) Funniest video I've ever seen in my life probably.

In our teen years, Erin and i hated each other's guts!! I remember i would bug Erin so much whenever one of her friends came over, which is funny now because Aubrey does the exact same thing to Cameron and his friends, except on a more extreme level. Sometimes i got really down because i thought Erin and i would never be "friends". Just *sisters*. We would fight about every single little thing. For example: MY dice earings. (my being a side note) I was simply looking for my Favorite earings one day...and couldn't find them. A few days later, I found them in ERINS ROOM!!!! I flipped out! Yelled and argued with her until the parents came in...I still don't know where those earings are.....hmmmm. ;) Don't worry Erin. I'm over it.

I do remember, however, the day Erin and i became friends. Finally!! Easter 2008. The family visited Erin in Reno...We were all at the mall ready to get a picture with the easter bunny and Erin starts asking me questions...How's school? What's new? Any boys? I regret to say, boys are the reason why Erin and i came together. Sheesh :) I told her about my squeeze at that time, and a few words came out of my mouth that she could not BELIEVE!!! It was a pretty hilarious moment actually--watching Erin freak that i wasn't a "baby" anymore and somewhat mature and not as innocent as she thought i was. She then started asking me a BILLION questions!! I loved it! Erin and I have really became best friends since that moment. not just *sisters*

Its so great to have an older sister, and one who is as special as Erin. I love her so so so much.

This is the picture at the mall (Easter 08) aka the day Erin and I became friends!

Love ya Erin!!

Thursday January 14, two thousand and ten

Well, I tried picking up my room a bit today but all that got me was a really big head ache and a lot of books stacked up on the floor. I still have a lot to sort before i go to bed because....there's still a lot of CRAP on my bed! I did however clean off two shelves that can now be used for anything I want! Hey guess what else i did today. charged my camera!! woot woot! Seems kinda weird to read i guess :) But if you KNEW how long I looked for my camera charger...whew man. Its intense. Now all i gotta do is find a card. haha

Thankfully, my best friend Lauren came to my rescue and made me stop cleaning. She and I took a nice long break and went to Mikuni! Although I HATE fish, Lauren loves it and I like one thing on the menu--Sesame Chicken.  We had a great time!! Laughing, talkin about life, the future...all of our favorite things to chat about. :) Enjoy the pictures we took just for you!!

Lauren and her Meso Soup!!

I HATE chopsticks!! I dropped the piece of tofu right after the picture was taken! Ah I'm hopeless

The waitress kept coming by and picking up plates of ours that I wanted to take pictures of!! so right after she took our plates, I hurried up and took a picture of this one! I like it, hope you do too!

Enjoyin life...good times

Does it seem to you, those of you who are NOT with someone, that everyone is in love? I'm not complaining, just sayin.....Its cool to hang out with my family, but after a while? not so much. I'm lookin around and every single person has someone to be with!! I wish school would start! That way, i'll have something to do....only 5 more days!!

Wonderful Wednesday

Today i had the chance to go out with the sister missionaries. I, first of all, LOVE the sister missionaries!! I also....didn't get the Wear RED shirts today memo! We taught Manwell, who is getting baptized on Saturday. I am so excited for him!! He quit smoking and even though i had never met him before this, I could tell a difference in his attitude. Its simply amazing what the church does. I absolutely love being a part of this church and helping give other people the opportunity to take part in what amazing blessings are in store for them. Anyway, Manwell said the closing prayer and was so cute! He mentioned just randomly.."Im sorry for my.....grouchiness." But he said it in such a calm, serious voice. We chuckled during the prayer, and he ended by saying amen and then we all busted up laughing!!! He adds "Even though the church is a really serious subject, we can still have fun! Right?" Yes, Manwell...we can still have fun.

7:00 pm rolls around. Its time. for. the. DaNcE fEsTiVaL kIcKoFf!!! Shawn Borup, a dear friend of mine and my family, thought of this idea for all the youth in her stake. It is such a great storyline and will be very touching for many people--including me. She has different dances, such as latin, tumbling, ballet, swing dancing, hip hop... I am so excited to watch it! She was talking to me a few months ago about the dance festival, and the all boys song came up. "I was thinking about this song and every time the chorus came, i couldn't stop imagining all the boys signing while they sing!" She then asked me if I would come up to El dorado Hills to teach all the youth the sign language! Chyyaaa I'll be honest. I was REALLY excited, just to be able to share my talent with the youth. I did, however, get a few looks from the boys who were trying to be cool and impress me. One boy in particular, sat right in the front and gave me a head nod. haha oh boys...I returned his nod by saying "I'm 20." Well, lets just say that didn't work out. Darn it!

Terrible Tuesday tourment

What happened today? Ever feel like from the moment you wake up to the moment you lay down to sleep, you dont know what you did, and realized how much you wasted that day? That was ME today. What did I even do...
I called Sandra McGregor...got some questions answered. Thats a good thing. I, wrote a letter to a missionary...that's a good thing right? :) I went to Walmart to get some pictures printed... I put together a package for someone. Something i also did today: Messed up my room i cleaned YeStErDaY. I did play with my youngest sister, Aubrey, tonight. She is so cute to listen to. If you, or rather, I listen to her talk its amazing what you'll hear!! She says such grown up things to you and she'll talk for HOURS if you let her. But what i realized today is that you can't pass up those moments. When will I EVER have those again? I need to let people be people. Let them be themselves. Another thing i've learned...you can't change people. All we need to do is to better ourselves to be alright and get along with others. Mom always gives me little quotes by Mary Engelbreit and I somehow at those moments feel so down and inadequate but they build me up later. They hold a lot of good, positive thoughts for me. "Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference."

Rainy days and Mondays

Even though it didn't rain today, it was really gloomy. Does that make anybody else really sad and not want to leave the house?

2. Cleaned my room!! I can see the floor now :) This, if you haven't noticed, is a BIG success for me.
