Capital Jazz Project

Presents:
Latin With Strings!!
Today, May 16 2010 I got the opportunity to play in collaboration with the American River College Chamber Orchestra and the Brubeck Institute Jazz Quintet. I played alongside with my first teacher Gay Currier under the direction of Dr. Steven Thompson, Conductor. I have never had so much fun playing in an ensemble!! That's saying a lot because I've been in several different ensembles and camps and orchestras. I could really get used to something like this too--jobwise. Its a tough life though, you have to keep up your skills in your specific area (viola or whatever instrument). Sight reading is the key to your success. You really need to have a firm foundation in sight reading before you get yourself into something like this. I LOVE sight reading. I uploaded a video from the concert so you can enjoy some of the symphonic jazz with a latin tinge we presented tonight together!
